Last week the Iowa Economic Development Authority (IEDA) awarded five startups grants or loans from the Demonstration Fund, including two Iowa tech startups. Des Moines startup Bawte—currently participating in the Boulder-based Techstars accelerator—was awarded a $25,000 grant from the Proof of Commercial Relevance Fund. Bawte will use the funds to market and develop its product. Iowa City-based Pear Deck also received funds from IEDA. The startup received a $100,000 loan from the Iowa Innovation Acceleration Fund in order to help expand their team. Athena GTX, Krato and Kyoger also received assistance from the Demonstration Fund. — Source: Iowa Economic Development Authority
