ProxibidOMAHA— Proxibid, an online marketplace for buying and selling highly-valued items, has celebrated its 100 millionth bid since it was established in Omaha in 2001.

The 100 millionth bid was placed on Sept. 12 at 1:32 p.m. by Roy Rhoden, a long-time Proxibid buyer, during Deanco Auction Company’s Public Equipment Auction. Rhoden won a Vizio laptop from Divvy, a Proxibid company dedicated to providing consumers with high quality new and recertified consumer electronics.

“I am thrilled to be the 100 millionth bidder on Proxibid,” Rhoden said in a press release. “I have participated in countless auctions on Proxibid over the years… it has become my preferred way to shop online for heavy construction equipment because of the selection, security of the marketplace and customer support provided with every sale.”

CEO Ryan Downs said the 100 millionth bid is a major milestone for the company.

“For more than a decade, our team has worked to provide buyers and sellers with a superior online commerce experience,” he said. “Reaching our 100 millionth bid is a testament to the dedication our team puts forth every day.”

Proxibid was founded in 2001 to provide auction companies with the ability to webcast their auctions live online, enabling bidders anywhere in the world with an internet connection the ability to participate.

Over the last 13 years the site has evolved into an online marketplace, joining buyers and sellers of items spanning 15 asset categories with multiple transaction methods including live and timed auctions, instant purchase and make offer capabilities.

More than $3 billion in inventory will pass through the marketplace this year.
