WordCamp Omaha, a locally run conference designed for new and experienced users of WordPress, returns on August 25-26.

The fifth-annual WordCamp Omaha will kick off Saturday at Mammel Hall on the South campus of UNO, with a full day of sessions covering three tracks: beginners, small business needs, digital designers, marketing, and code developers.

WordCamps are locally run conferences held in many cities across the world year-round to teach and celebrate the WordPress platform and related community. Users gather to learn about WordPress, which powers more than 25 percent of all websites on the web.

WordCamp Omaha is Nebraska’s only one WordCamp conference.

The tracks are designed to help people at all levels of knowledge build low-cost websites for themselves, nonprofits and businesses using the popular free and open-source content management system, WordPress.

Session topics from last year’s WordCamp Omaha include “The Next Generation of WP AJAX”, “Easy WordPress Security for Everyone”, “Workflows for Agencies and Freelancers”, “Page Builder Basics”, and much more.

WordCamp organizers said they are very excited for 2018 topics and will be promoting those as the event gets closer.

They added that a number of regular session presenters will be from the Omaha/Lincoln area, and they will also be opening up speaking opportunities for other specialists from around the country. Last year’s WordCamp Omaha featured multiple speakers from Texas, Minnesota, and Kansas.

Saturday evening will feature a networking after-party at Beercade in Benson where attendees can discuss what they learned that day over a variety of arcade games, followed by a half-day of sessions on Sunday.

Tickets are on sale now with a limited number of Super Early Bird tickets available for $25. Once the early registration tickets are sold out, tickets will be $40 for the two-day conference.

Tickets for WordCamp Omaha include:

  • A full day of sessions on Saturday
  • Continental breakfast Saturday morning
  • Lunch provided on Saturday
  • After-party at Beercade in Benson on Saturday evening
  • Help desk/work session Sunday morning
  • Additional sessions on Sunday morning
  • An exclusive WordCamp Omaha 2018 t-shirt

WordCamp organizers say the conference fills quickly most years, and t-shirt availability diminishes for those who register last minute. They strongly encourage early registration.
