Inc. Magazine does a great job of recognizing companies that are growing fast through its annual Inc. 5000.
Since Silicon Prairie News supports entrepreneurs and technologists – we did a quick review of the Inc. 5000 to plaudits to communities doing well.
From a raw numbers perspective, Chicago, Minneapolis, St. Louis, and Kansas City dominate. But many places in the Silicon Prairie have fewer people but still imbue a strong entrepreneurial spirit in their people. Our top ten for the week recognizes which communities in the Silicon Prairie have created the most companies on the Inc. 5000 per capita.
1 – Fargo
2 – Columbia
3 – Cedar Rapids
4 – Chicago
5 – Sioux Falls
6 – Springfield (MO)
7 – Omaha
8 – Minneapolis
9 – Rochester
10 – Lincoln
The Fargo area has nine companies on the list, and with a total MSA population of under 250,000––which is a tremendous accomplishment. Great job, Fargo!
