January 25 – Mycroft AI, founded in 2015 and headquartered in Kansas City, closed a $2.14 million convertible debt funding deal this week.
Tuesday’s round with Social Starts, Deep Space Ventures, The Jaguar Land Rover Tech Incubator, TechNexus Venture Collaborative, and other undisclosed investors positions the company for continued expansion in the AI and machine-learning sector.
Mycroft is a developer of what it touts as “the world’s first open source voice assistant.” Its applications include practical assistance such as information sourcing, media – music and movies, and home control for wifi-connected appliances. Mycroft ecosystem Skills are written by the Mycroft team and those in the community and can be browsed on the Mycroft Marketplace. Users can teach Mycroft new skills and share them around the world.
The company received the ‘Top Deal’ rating from KingsCrowd, a Boston-based independent, third-party equity crowdfunding research and rating service, in September 2018.
