As you may have read earlier today, we launched the Silicon Prairie News – Kansas City edition, officially expanding our coverage and community building efforts to the Kansas City area (see our post: “Silicon Prairie News – Kansas City Edition launches today!).

In this morning’s post, Jeff wrote, “We’ve always looked to Kansas City as a natural fit, and we were aware of many of the companies making a difference on the community both regionally and beyond.” But to make it happen, we needed to add a few big things on our end: time, talent and resources. Well, today’s the day that it has come together, and without further ado, I have the privilege of introducing to you three individuals who will be kicking off Silicon Prairie News – Kansas City. (Note: To read their full bios, click on their names)

Royce Haynes@roycehaynes

Royce is a Software Developer at Argus Health Systems, a company that processes claims for health insurance providers. Outside of work, Royce spends time with his fiance, works on side projects, and hangs out with his dog, Layla. Royce is the Co-Founder of Jiffy Card, a flash card web and mobile app and is actively involved in the Kansas City startup community.

Willis Jackson@wfjackson3

Willis currently works as a Project Engineer for Grundfos and is working to get his startup, Mashtun Technologies, off the ground. He curates the Kansas City StartupDigest and has a few other side projects in the works. Having lived in all parts of the US while growing up, he is sure that the Silicon Prairie is a great place to live.

Chris Shaw @MOChrisShaw

Chris is a lawyer, consultant and former debate coach. He’s been enamored with technology since he built and sold computers as teenager in the Kansas City area. He earned a bachelor’s degree in finance from the University of Missouri and his law degree from the University of Iowa. He returned to the Kansas City area to practice law. Chris also created a blog that may or may not have destroyed the Big XII conference. His love of technology and his entrepreneurial spirit led him to Silicon Prairie News.

Haynes, Jackson and Shaw are passionate about the community that surrounds them – from the individuals who make it up to the events at which they meet – and they’ve shown us they’re ready to share the stories of those individuals and companies. With that in mind, if you have story ideas or news items for Silicon Prairie News, shoot us a quick note or send your press release to info@siliconprairienews.com.

Also, don’t forget to join us and meet these contributors on March 1st from 5:30-8:30 p.m. for our Kansas City Launch Party at McFadden’s Sport Saloon (Facebook Event).

Now, help me welcome Royce, Willis and Chris in the comments below, or find them on Twitter (see above).
