LiveOn, a service created to share and store memories online, launched this afternoon. Initially set to go live by Oct. 1, the site that gives users a new way to keep and share key life moments with their closest friends and family has been redesigned over the past two months in private beta to incorporate an easier navigation and functionality for its video and timeline memory storing features.
In an email today, LiveOn founder, Jonathan Whistman compared his anticipation of the site’s launch to the anticipation before the birth of a child. “Will I be a good parent?” Whistman said. “How will he fit into the world? You have great hopes and aspirations and just hope everything goes well, not just at first, but for the rest of his life.”
Already named to the Startup Open’s Global Entrepreneurship Week Top 50, a contest supported by the Ewing Marion Kauffman Foundation, Kansas City-based LiveOn has raised $750,000 to date and has its sights set on raising another $2 million by January 2012. Linsey Grams, LiveOn’s director of media and communications, discussed in a phone interview today LiveOn’s next steps. “We now look forward to securing our second round of funding,” Grams said, “launching a multimedia marketing campaign and implementing new features to our site.”

The 11-member LiveOn team, which has expanded in size from its eight-person summer squad, will have an internal celebration of the launch tonight. Grams said there is an official public launch party set to take place Feb. 2, as LiveOn foresees further company growth as the site’s user base expands.
