Like BarCamp Des Moines (pictured above), BarCamp Cedar Valley will host an assortment of talks and topics selected and presented by the attendees.
After establishing a presence elsewhere in the state of Iowa, BarCamp will venture to Cedar Valley for the first time this weekend. The attendee-generated “un-conference” kicks off its inaugural festivities with a pre-party event on Friday night and morning-long breakout sessions starting at 9 a.m. Saturday.

When BarCamp attendees arrive at the Business and Community Services Building on the University of Northern Iowa‘s campus on Saturday, the schedule is a blank slate. From 9-9:30 a.m. the initial signups will take place, and anyone can add their solo talk, panel or discussion group to a 20-minute session. Attendees will set the agenda for Saturday’s talks, discussions and collaborations; some will come prepared with a topic and others will decide the day of the event. The open format offers plenty of networking opportunities and different ways to learn from others from the tech, creative and entrepreneurial community, all on the fly and for a $5 admission.
