Meet the seven teams of the sixth Startup Weekend Des Moines

The sixth Startup Weekend Des Moines kicked off Friday evening with more than 30 ideas pitched and seven teams formed for the 54-hour competition. Throughout the weekend each of the seven teams worked at StartupCity Des Moines to build their product in anticipation of the final presentations, which begin at 5 p.m. today ,,,

The sixth Startup Weekend Des Moines kicked off Friday evening at StartupCity Des Moines. 

The sixth Startup Weekend Des Moines kicked off Friday evening with more than 30 ideas pitched and seven teams formed for the 54-hour competition. 

Throughout the weekend each of the seven teams worked at StartupCity Des Moines to build their product in anticipation of the final presentations, which begin at 5 p.m. today. 

Entrepreneurs from more than 200 Startup Weekends around the world will compete in the Global Startup Battle, an online, bracket-style competition for winning Startup Weekend teams. Last year, teams from Des Moines and Kansas City competed with 135 other Startup Weekend winners from around the globe for a chance at thousands of dollars worth of prizes.

  • The Wedding List – Create a wedding guest list more easily through a web application.
  • Are We Open – A network connection for the neon “open” sign. 
  • Trakkit – Track the “stuff” you do every day using graphs and data insights. 
  • FoodFrom – Delivers food from different regions to your doorstep through a monthly subscription box. 
  • BeardOrNot.co – An online beard competition.
  • Brick X Brick – Create a 2D representation of a photo using Lego blocks. 
  • Papermedium – Physical copies of writing by your favorite Medium authors delivered to your door. 

Judges for this iteration of Startup Weekend include Erin Rollenhagen of Entrepreneurial Technologies, Caleris CEO Sheldon Ohringer and Joel Marks, a software engineer at Webfilings.
