Big Omaha 2012 attendees pose in the photo booth of the event’s opening party.
As we kick off the inaugural Big Kansas City this evening at the Opening Party (8 p.m at Missouri Bank), it’s only fitting that the title sponsor is the Ewing Marion Kauffman Foundation. No single organization has provided more support to The Big Series since it’s inception and it’s great to have their support once again as we hold our debut event in their home town.
Anyone with even the least bit of knowledge of entrepreneurial community development worldwide will immediately recognize Kauffman’s name and efforts, but we’re particularly proud of the support they continue to provide in Kansas City and throughout the Silicon Prairie.

You’ll not only see that commitment at this event but also at Big Omaha in May, the Silicon Prairie Awards in August and Big Des Moines in October as the Kauffman Foundation has signed on to be lead sponsor of each.
We simply couldn’t produce events and experiences like this without such great supporters. In the words of Thom Ruhe, the Kauffman Foundation’s vice president of entrepreneurship:
The Kauffman Foundation is proud to sponsor the inaugural Big Kansas City. Like Big Omaha and Big Des Moines, this event is focused on entrepreneurship and innovation, and it is intended to inspire and motivate its attendees and create lasting relationships within the region.
We’re very excited that you’re here. To make the most of your experience, consider what you’re passionate about and how you can influence others. Meet and share with those around you at every opportunity. This is meant to be an interactive experience – engage and build!
The Kauffman Foundation, based in Kansas City, Mo., is among the largest foundations in the United States with a mission to foster a society of economically independent individuals who are engaged citizens, continuing the improvement of their communities. We’ll see you tonight for the Big Kansas City Opening Party sponsored by Kansas City’s own Kauffman Foundation.
