The Iowa Startup Accelerator, based out of Cedar Rapids, is launching a new summer camp program this year for kids. The program is an expansion of their Imagination Iowa initiative, which promotes coding, creativity and entrepreneurship in Iowa.

“We’ve run CoderDojo, our coding camps for kids, every two weeks for the past two years,” David Tominsky, Program Manager for ISA, said in press release. “Now, we’re looking to grow our STEAM programs aggressively in 2016 in order to fill some holes in the market.”

According to their website the camps will include “in-depth coding, computer hardware, robotics, entrepreneurship, problem solving and more.”

“There are lots of summer camp options in Cedar Rapids already,” Tominsky said in a press release. “We want to add a strong emphasis on coding, engineering, the arts, math, and entrepreneurship which are the critical skills kids need in our community and for their future.”

The camp will run in June and July this summer. Registration will open in early February. People who are interested in getting updates about the camp can join the mailing list.
