St. Louis startup Coolfire Solutions raised $11.5 million dollars last week from Clayton Capital, a firm closely tied to Enterprise Rent-a-Car, and IrishAngels.

The firm, which provides real-time situational awareness via their Ronin Platform helps customers understand the environment in which they find themselves. Specifically, Ronin provides an enterprise resource planning (ERP) system that can be accessed across multiple form factors – phone, tablet, CPU – and with administrative governance baked in. The technology specifically works with organizations that have a decentralized workforce that needs access to real-time but decentralized data.

Coolfire works with city government, military and security, transportation, and other complicated industries.  The firm was formed in 2010 by Jeff Keane and John Dames. The CEO is Don Sharp, a graduate of the University of Notre Dame.  Between the raise from the IrishAngels and the Billiken Angel Network, Coolfire has received funding from two university alumni/angel groups – an uncommon fundraising source.

The firm is poised to continue to grow by accelerating its enterprise sales.
