Starting at 8 a.m. today, six teams will dive into their ideas, working to create a working prototype to pitch to the judges when time runs out Sunday evening. Out of around 15 ideas, the following six were chosen to implement at this year’s Startup Weekend Omaha (in alphabetical order):
- Buzz – A way to gauge the buzz around a certain news item or product at a certain period of time. (Pitched by Grant Stanley.)*
- Keepum – An online Twitter archiving service keeping your tweets and favorite searches and allowing you to explore, export and embed those tweets. (Pitched by Danny Schreiber.)**
- First Year – A smartphone app that daily asks you a question about your baby. You answer, the app keeps the data and at the end of certain period of time you can turn that data into a baby book (Pitched by Nia Nielsen.)
- Focus Groupon – The Groupon model applied to finding people to participate in a focus group. (Pitched by Joe Frost.)
- Textroulette – A network that allows you to place a random phone call or text message to someone else on the network. Think Chatroulette for the phone. (Pitched by Alex Gates.)
- Volunteer Tasklist – A follow up task list sent to volunteers after a volunteer project has taken place but has not yet been fully completed. (Pitched by John Henry Müller.)
*This idea was not one of the five chosen by vote but Stanley and his Contemporary Analysis co-workers decided to undertake it for the weekend.
