South by Southwest 2011 is just around the corner… well, almost. Even though it’s still four months away, the annual March festival held in Austin, Texas continues to attract the media’s attention this time of year as they roll out the selected panels of their three festivals: Music, Film and Interactive. So far, the tally count of accepted panels from the 13 submitted “Panels from the Prairie” is at four:*
- Conference Startups: Grassroots Innovation Rocking the Event World. – Chris Schultz, Voodoo Ventures, LLC (New Orleans); Jeff Slobotski, Silicon Prairie News & Big Omaha; and others (Omaha)
- How Farmers Get Serious Business Done With Mobile – Jeff Caldwell, Meredith Corporation (Des Moines)
Music
- Landing A Music Career In Flyover Country – Hillary Brown & Jill Haverkamp, On Pitch (Des Moines)
- Socially Awkward: The Art of Social Media Transparency – Shannon Schlappi, Locker Partner/Rockdex (Kansas City)
Also accepted was the panel of Omaha native Gregory Ferenstein, a guest writer for outlets such as CNN, Mashable and Fast Company. Ferenstein’s panel is “Stand Out: Investigative Journalism for Bloggers.”
