There are three events taking place around the region this week, with two of them being paid events. First up is the “Raising Capital Seminar” presented by Business Innovation Zone, happening in Des Moines during Tuesday’s lunch hour. On Thursday there’s a “Legal Issues For Startup” presentation happening at Think Big Partners in Kansas City over lunch, and in the evening the Omaha Cornstalks group is holding a “Demo Night.”

Entrepreneurs in search of start-up capital are invited to attend a full-day educational seminar packed with valuable tips, strategic insight and insider knowledge to help them uncover and understand sources of available capital.
“Many entrepreneurs don’t have a good understanding of the types of capital that start-up businesses can or should raise,” says Mike Colwell, executive director of the Business Innovation Zone of Central Iowa, the seminar sponsor. “This event will be the place to learn about the legal requirements, investor expectations of them, the timeframes and the costs involved in raising capital.”

The night will kick off at 6:30 p.m. for networking (complimentary drinks and cookies), and the demonstrations will start at 7 p.m. Each demo will be about six to eight minutes, and the presenter will use the projector to give a description and walk-through of the product.
