The Startup Nebraska effort is launching on Friday. What does this mean? It means that now is the time to get involved.

The event is a launch but not a completed mission. In fact, it is more of an opportunity to get engaged in the process from the beginning. There were two planning sessions in Omaha and Lincoln, and the results from these meetings were that 30 brave individuals have already begun work on Startup Nebraska. This group helped to plan this event and set up some of the communications channels to ensure that we can have an engaging, ongoing conversation.

The launch event on Friday is an effort to help get more people onto the rocket as the journey is beginning – so that the plan and effort can be collaborative and engaging for many people with diverse backgrounds. Tell your friends and family. Tell people who want to be part of an awesome ecosystem in Nebraska – whether they live here now or not.

Funders, entrepreneurs, universities, government and regular people with no specific affiliation to entrepreneurship have already joined the effort. Friday’s event is your opportunity to do so.

In addition, here are three other things that will be happening. So, even if you can’t make the event, please join the online community:

  1. A startup survey for Nebraska will launch in early February.
  2. The written action plan for Startup Nebraska is currently being developed and you are welcome to participate. It is open source. Join a group below and ask for the Google Doc invite.
  3. Join us on LinkedIn, Facebook (Page) or Twitter to receive regular updates about activities both within the Startup Nebraska family and in the ecosystem at large.

Please feel welcome and know that your opinion and voice are needed. Join us on Friday at 3 p.m. in North Downtown Omaha at the Mastercraft building, the new, old home for entrepreneurship in the region.
