A trio of Iowa economic and business organizations are embarking on a West Coast tour hopeful their message about the benefits of moving to the Hawkeye State is music to the ears of Californians.

The Greater Des Moines Partnership is hosting a recruiting event at 5 p.m. today in San Francisco that features a live performance by The Nadas, a Des Moines-based band. On Thursday, the Partnership and The Nadas travel south to Palo Alto to team up with the Iowa Economic Development Authority and the Ames Chamber of Commerce for an event that starts at 5:30 p.m. and follows a format similar to today’s event. Both events are free and open to the public. Registration, times and locations can be found on Tikly.

In a phone call today, Kari Tindal of the Partnership said the event in Palo Alto — a first for the organization — is targeted towards the tech industry.

Thursday’s event, “A night out in Silicon Valley,” invites residents and businesses to learn about a chance to win a six-month housing allowance if they move to the Des Moines area.
