The Technology Association of Iowa, a nonprofit organization created to accelerate the success of Iowa’s technology industry, announced on Thursday that the nomination period for its 2013 Prometheus Awards is open and will run through Jan. 28.
Now in their eighth year, the Prometheus Awards celebrate innovation and achievement within Iowa’s tech sector. Recipients of 2012 awards included Banno (then called T8 Webware), Dwolla, Stackd, StartupCity Des Moines and WebFilings.

“The Prometheus Awards is recognized as Iowa’s most prestigious awards for high-tech excellence in Iowa and has become synonymous with ultimate achievement amongst a prestigious peer group,” TAI president Leann Jacobsen said in a press release. “We are excited to continue the tradition of celebrating those who represent the best in technology and have demonstrated outstanding leadership and innovation.”
This year’s Prometheus Awards cover 16 categories, including the new Mobile App of the Year category. Those categories are:
- Software Company of the Year (Small/Medium)
- Software Company of the Year (Large/Enterprise)
- IT Service Provider of the Year
- Clean Energy Innovation of the Year
- Mobile App of the Year
- Best User of Technology
- Innovation in Teaching
- CIO/CTO/CSO of the Year
- CEO of the Year
- Student Innovation of the Year
- Break Out Award
- Top Growth Company of the Year
- Outstanding Startup Company of the Year
- Life Sciences Company of the Year
- Top Growth Company of the Year
- Technology Company of the Year (Small/Medium)
- Technology Company of the Year (Large/Enterprise)
Finalists for the 2013 awards will be named on Feb. 18, and winners will be announced on April 9 at an event in downtown Des Moines. Additional information regarding how to submit nominations is available on the TAI’s website.
