The CEO of Los Angeles tech company iMatte will be in Kansas City, Mo. on Wednesday for a demo of his company’s telepresence product, SightDeck. He’ll be there – in case you’re wondering – in person.
SightDeck Kansas City, a local re-seller of iMatte’s product, is hosting an open house Jan. 23 to show off its installation of SightDeck, an HD video system that allows users to interact with media, co-present with offsite presenters and record presentations, among other promised features.
The event takes place from 5-6 p.m. at Harvey’s in Union Station. SightDeck KC has received free space in Union Startion through the Kansas City, Mo. government-led Launch KC program. Kansas City, Mo. Mayor Sly James will be present Wednesday to make remarks, SightDeck KC CEO Richard Welnowski said in a phone interview today.
Welnowski, who pursued bringing SightDeck to Kansas City to one day take full advantage of Google Fiber, said his company is going to invite local startups to use its technology to let them record the “next level presentation.” The free use of SightDeck – a product with a price tag $125,000 per unit – is the company’s return to the community for the support its received from Launch KC, Welnowski said.
