It’s open season for gigabit internet in the Kansas City region. Lawrence, Kan.-based Wicked Broadband on Tuesday announced plans to install fiber service in a test neighborhood with the highest percentage of pre-registrations, similar to Google Fiber‘s model in Kansas City. The company plans to announce a winner June 16 and from there determine how many other neighborhoods receive the service based on demand. Company co-owner Joshua Montgomery said Wicked plans to offer three options: 1 gigabit for $99.98/month, 100 mbps for $69.98/month and 20 mbps for $49.98/month. — Source: Lawrence Journal-World
