In less than a month, startups in five Midwestern cities will each have a shot at a $100,000 investment.
As part of the Rise of the Rest Road Trip with Revolution CEO Steve Case, five pitch competitions will be held across the region—in Madison, Wis.; Minneapolis; Des Moines; Kansas City and St. Louis—to help “celebrate and accelerate” the progress being made in the heartland’s entrepreneurial communities.
In partnership with UP Global, Google for Entrepreneurs, Engine Advocacy, Startup Grind and Cedar Rapids’ Seed Here Studio, the Revolution and the Rise of the Rest tour will hit the road again just 10 weeks after its first trip.
Sound interesting? Entrepreneurs have until Sunday, Sept. 21, to apply to pitch in their respective city’s competition. But before the big day, here’s what you need to know about the tour’s Silicon Prairie stops:

Des Moines – Oct. 8
On the Rise of the Rest’s stop in Des Moines, Case and the Revolution team will make stops at area startup hubs like Gravitate before heading to a fireside chat at the Science Center of Iowa at noon, followed at 2 p.m. by the Rise of the Rest pitch competition. Then they’ll close out the day with Rise DSM, a happy hour and community celebration, at 4 p.m. at the Des Moines Social Club.
Kansas City – Oct. 9
Big Kansas City will partner with the Rise of the Rest tour during its KC stop, sharing a venue in the Airline History Museum’s Hangar 9. Attend a fireside chat with Steve Case at Hanger 9 at Kansas City’s Airline History Museum at 2:30 p.m. followed by the Rise of the Rest pitch at 3:30 p.m. End the day with Rise KC, a startup community celebration, at The Guild.

Good luck to all applicants! @Dwolla & @EyeVerify, please ignore this article. Nothing to see here. 😉
This says up until Oct 21 to apply but the dates for the cities are earlier than that?
