Omaha startup accelerator Straight Shot has announced the eight teams that will be participating in this year’s program. The eight teams are:
- Gazella Wifi (Omaha)
- Lyconic (Omaha)
- MotoMetrix (Omaha)
- Mommy Assistant (Omaha)
- Omnipointment (Chicago)
- Revolve Fine Art (Omaha)
- Rodeo Analytics (Lincoln)
- Ulytic (Columbia, MO)
A couple of the teams will be familiar to SPN readers. Serial entrepreneur Eric Burns of Gazella Wifi is also the founder of Nightlife Transit and a participant in Year of the Startup. SPN did a story on Alex Adams and Rodeo Analytics last summer.
The cohort also signals a more mature startup pipeline in the region. Mommy Assistant is a company backed by The Garage by Aviture. Omipointment is led by Raikes students. Alex Adams of Rodeo Analytics went through the Prelaunch program put on by the NMotion accelerator in Lincoln.

One of the most unique teams of the group is MotoMetrix, which is a partnership between Straight Shot and UNeMed, in order to connect traditional R&D ideas with an experienced startup entrepreneur. The company, which involves biometrics technology related to concussions, will be led by Preston Badeer, who has been involved with Hayneedle, Elevate, Proxibid and Interface Web School.
You can learn more about this year’s teams on the Straight Shot blog. The 90-day program will begin on June 6 with an official kick-off event on June 9. Demo Day is scheduled for September 14.
