Iowa Startup Accelerator powered by NewBoCo in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, has launched its third class with six new teams, all from Iowa.
“In 2014, there were far fewer Iowa-based startups. With several years of ecosystem building under our belts and with strong collaborative relationships statewide, we’re proud that this year we had a record number of strong applicants, but the best were all from Iowa,” Accelerator Managing Director David Tominsky said, in a press release.
The six teams for this year’s cohort are:
- AMP’d Cycles (Cedar Rapids) – Smart bicycles creating a safer experience for cyclists
- AssetRover (Cedar Rapids) – Simplified real estate investing
- Girls With Ideas (Iowa City) – Leadership development for young females
- Hang (Des Moines) – Community engagement mobile app
- Streamweaver (Iowa City) – Influencer marketing platform for e-sports
- Written Apparel (Cedar Rapids) – Homegrown high-end fashion for women
The class will also include a corporate innovation team, QuickScore, out of Cedar Rapids, which will use data analysis for rapid test scoring for educational assessments.
The accelerator is notable for its transparency. The accelerator’s web site includes data, as of the start of this year, on milestones reached, investment and full-time employees for all 19 of their portfolio companies.
Iowa Startup Accelerator’s Launch Day is November 3. Tickets are available now.
