Iowa City, Iowa based medical device company, iotaMotion, filed paperwork with the SEC regarding their October 9, 2018 $2.1 million raise.

The company provides cochlear implants (“CI”) to moderate hearing loss sufferers. The device dramatically expands the CI market by moving the bar for access to the devices down to moderate impairments by lowering the trauma associated with insertion. The iotaMotion system includes software, robotics, hardware, and other components to ensure that the success of the implantation is standardized against best outcomes and has less variability.

The firm has received grants from both the SBIR (Small Business Innovation Research) program of NIH and from the State of Iowa Department of Economic Development.  The original technology was created in coordination with the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in 2015.

The firm was founded by Marlan Hansen, MD and Chris Kauffman, MD.
