In the course of SPN’s existence, we have received hundreds of tips regarding companies and communities. We do our best to cover each company or community well, but we don’t always succeed.
In order to further our understanding of the Silicon Prairie and hopefully our readers, we have built a Community Survey.
However, there’s a catch. No one likes filling out surveys. We’ve built one that can be answered throughly in less than five minutes, but still its five minutes of your busy day.
So, we are going to give you an incentive.

Our annual report will be coming out in late November or early December, and this survey is part of that report. We want you, our readers, to be able to impact your community’s score and ranking because we believe an engaged community is the #1 most important feature of an ecosystem.
The way that your community can prove engagement is to fill out the survey. We will publish a scoreboard periodically that informs you on the number of surveys received. To receive beneficial points, your community must fill out 10 surveys at a minimum. After that, it becomes a ranking on number of surveys. We know that this disadvantages small communities, but after much deliberation, we believe that it is fair to disadvantage small communities because they receive other benefits in our methodology.
The survey’s total “points” in the annual report are about 10 percent. 5 percent goes to the number of people who take the survey. 5 percent goes to what those people say regarding how the community is doing.
It’s not enough to simply fill it out, we genuinely want to know and value the way your community views itself. Moreover, we will use the subjective data (like best local entrepreneur) to tell more stories about your community.
