This is a bit of late notice, but if you’re in Lincoln today definitely try to make your way over to the City Campus Union at University of Nebraska–Lincoln for the 12th Annual UNL Venture Plan Championship. (Left, University of Nebraska–Lincoln logo from unl.edu.)
The event kicks off at 5:30 p.m. and is expected to run until about 9. Up for grabs is $1,000, but more importantly, all students, undergrad and graduate, will have the opportunity to gain experience pitching their business plan and interacting with potential investors. I’ll be there to cover the event, so if you’re around make sure to say “hello.”
Here’s more information provided from the event coordinators:
The Nebraska Center for Entrepreneurship is hosting the event and it is the 12th Annual University of Nebraska–Lincoln Venture Plan Championship. The event is sponsored by Alice Dittman and Cornhusker Bank. Inaugurated in 1999, this program is designed to identify, support, and promote students who write business plans that serve as the basis for attracting people and money to their proposed new ventures. The competition will be contested in separate graduate and undergraduate levels and affords students from across the University of Nebraska–Lincoln campus an opportunity to “pitch” their plans to potential investors and win up to $1,000. Members of the business community will judge all business plans.
Thanks to our sponsor
The event is open to the public and will begin at 5:30 p.m. on Friday, December 3. The competitors competed in the preliminary round of competition on Monday night (November 29) and these four competitors in each round are the ones that advanced. It will be held in the City Campus Union in rooms Regency A and Regency B. The winners and prize money will be awarded immediately following the event, in a reception held in the Heritage room.
