Startup Weekend Omaha, now just two weeks away (Sept. 16-18), has begun to round out its roster of organizers, judges and speakers. The latter of which we have the privilege to announce here.
Kicking off the event on Friday night with a talk titled “Business with Purpose,” will be the owner of a local media production company, Jordan Green of Jordan Green Productions. The Friday evening kickoff, which begins at 6 p.m. at Mammel Hall on the University of Nebraska–Omaha‘s campus, will also feature Kevin Hagemoser, executive director at Turbine Flats Project. Hagemoser’s talk is titled “Building an Entrepreneurial Community Through Incubation and Acceleration.”
Saturday at 9 a.m., after the first 15 hours of the 54-hour event have ticked away, US Sen. Ben Nelson will take the floor to talk about the importance of entrepreneurship in job creation and federal policies related to launching startups.
As of today, the judging panel features two local investors, William Fisher of Treetop Ventures – a regular guest contributor of Silicon Prairie News – and Karen Linder of Linspiration and the Nebraska Angels. The Startup Weekend Omaha team said they’ll be announcing 2-3 more judges in the coming weeks.

Lastly, the team added one to its lineup since we last reported on the event. Thubten Comerford, a Portland-based social media consultant and Startup Weekend veteran, will be facilitating the weekend’s schedule. Also on the organizing team is Corey Spitzer, Grant Stanley and Joe Evans, and serving as both organizer and mentor is Chris Augeri.
