Startup America holding contest to send startups to DEMO Fall 2012

The Startup America Partnership and several of its “Startup Regions” — including Startup Iowa, Startup Kansas, Startup Missouri and Startup Nebraska — are sponsoring a video pitch contest to send eight startups to present at DEMO Fall 2012 Oct. 1-3 in Santa Clara, Calif. Submissions for the contest are due by 4 p.m. CDT on Friday. 

The Startup America Partnership will chose four of its members from across the country to launch in October on the main stage at DEMO (pictured left), the technology and innovation conference that has served as the coming out party for startups like TiVo and E-Trade. Four more members of the Startup America Partnership will be allotted space to showcase in the DEMO Pavilion.

To quality for the contest, startups must be regsitered members of Startup America and also must satisfy the following additional criteria:

  • Solve a commercial problem
  • Make an impact or change the marketplace into which it is introduced or create a new market
  • Have a business plan and a management team capable of delivering the product to market
  • Make its public debut at the DEMO conference

Qualifying startups are invited to record a one-minute pitch video illustrating the problem their product solves, why that solution is innovative and how the product can be brought to market.

All eight startups selected by the Startup America Partnreship will receive airfare for two to the conference. Lodging and meals are not included.
