John Jackovin is the founder and CEO of Des Moines-based Bawte, an app that allows users to tag purchased items and receive product manuals or service information. Golden Gate Bridge

After nine weeks of Techstars the end is very near and we have our work cut out for us.

I am writing this from my kitchen table in Des Moines, Iowa, not from my rented kitchen table in Boulder, Colorado. I flew back late Wednesday and got to spend the last four days with my family in Iowa. This is my last trip home during Techstars. A great recharge of my personal batteries as we hit the home stretch.

Tomorrow morning I fly through Denver to San Francisco where I will spend a week meeting with as many people as possible. I have some great meetings already lined up and super excited for what those could be. In my downtime I plan to just soak up the Valley’s startup vibe. I then fly back to Boulder on Friday. At that point only three weeks remain in Techstars. And while technically we have three weeks remaining, the reality is we really only two weeks left to get ready for the big day.

That last week is really spent just prepping and practicing for demo day (Oct. 9). The Friday before demo day our pitches need to be 100 percent done and turned in. When you start doing subtraction with such small numbers, the magnitude of the situation becomes clear… We don’t have much time, at all. And while I am really excited to see what happens after Techstars, I know I am going to miss it.
