  3. City you’re blogging from: Des Moines

1. What is the name, subject and URL of your blog?

Our blog doesn’t have a catchy name (yet), so for now it’s just the Catchfire Media blog. We blog about strategies, tactics, and best practices in social media. blog.catchfiremedia.com

2. Why do you blog?

We feel blogging is the perfect platform to host long-form discussions on the subject we’re most passionate about: social media. Our blog serves as the basis of all our online content and gives our readers the ability to talk through challenges they’re facing in the space.

3. How long have you been blogging and what blogging software do you use?

The Catchfire blog has been running since October 2009. Our first blog post was an announcement from our managing partner about the launch of Catchfire Media. We use a hosted installation of WordPress to power our blog.

4. What’s your favorite blog (besides your own)?

With all of the talented individuals in social media, it can be difficult to pin down a single favorite. If we had to choose, Jay Baer does a great job with Convince & Convert. His posts are lengthy, but every paragraph is worth reading.

5. What do you think the state of the blogosphere is in our region?

There are several prolific bloggers in Des Moines that have a large reach, but overall we feel like the blogosphere is still very young. We are anxious to see more professionals and businesses carving out their niche in the space.
