Good afternoon from the SPN team, Big news today: Silicon Prairie News has been acquired by Omaha 100, the North Omaha mortgage and economic development CDFI, after three years of ownership under the Nebraska Journalism Trust. Silicon Prairie Startup Week has been acquired by Open Range, the Omaha entrepreneurship backbone organization. “These decisions weren’t driven by economics,” said Matt Wynn, CEO of the Nebraska Journalism Trust. “They were driven by mission. We believe Silicon Prairie News and Startup Week can accomplish even more with organizations whose entire focus is supporting entrepreneurs, while the Nebraska Journalism Trust sharpens its focus on growing Flatwater Free Press and strengthening local journalism across Nebraska.” The SPN team is now based out of the Omaha 100 offices and in the middle of a transition to have all our things, including the website and newsletter, hosted on Omaha 100’s systems. You may see some residual language from the Nebraska Journalism Trust on SPN branding and notice some changes during the transition. We appreciate your patience while everything gets sorted out.
